Why sort cattle? It’s another step to adding efficiency and it improves cattle handling. Much like you and your classmates or friends are all a little different, cattle too are different, even if they’re the same age or from the same herd. Sorting cattle into groups or pens puts similar cattle together for a specific feed ration and length of time. For example, cattle that need more nutrients are grouped together. This allows for best use of resources and less handling of cattle in the future - all increasing efficiency and decreasing stress for the animals too.
