Common misconception: feedlot pens are over-crowded, too muddy and animals stand in piles of their own manure. While feedlots can’t control the weather and a week of rains may make the pens temporarily muddy, the reality is pens are spacious and cleaned regularly. In fact, like many who ritualize spring cleaning, pens get “deep cleaning” treatments too. Not only is the manure removed with environmental standards for recycling, but fresh dirt is also put down, keeping cattle clean, health and happy.
