When cattle first arrive at a feedyard, they are fed a diet higher in roughages and silage - this is closer to their diet (often forages such as oats/wheat/triticale blends) before arriving. You can see this bunk looks more like hay (it’s silage) than grains. Their diet is then slowly transitioned to more corn and grain, but they never truly stop eating grasses - they simply get them in a different form - in this case silage. No matter which proportion of their ration cattle are eating though, all rations are blended with advice from an animal nutritionist and veterinarian with transition periods for optimal health, because healthy cattle gain weight.
